Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally declared his intention to contest for a house of representatives seat in 2027 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yusuf declared his interest in running for the house of representatives seat for the Daura, Sandamu, and Mai’adua federal constituency of the state on Wednesday, during a visit to Dikko Radda, governor of Katsina state, at the government house.
An X post by Mustapha Ingawa, senior special assistant (SSA) on media and strategy to Katsina state governor, said Yusuf was accompanied by a delegation of political leaders, traditional rulers, and stakeholders from across the constituency.
Musa Haro, district head of Dumurkul, who led the delegation, described Yusuf as a focused and patriotic young leader with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to public service.
He noted that his aspiration reflects the collective desire of the people of Daura, Sandamu, and Mai’adua for quality representation and inclusive development.
Haro commended Radda for his visionary leadership and people-orientated policies, noting that the delegation was at government house not only to formally introduce the aspirant but also to seek the governor’s guidance, blessings, and support.
Abdullahi Aliyu General, the member representing the Musawa/Matazu federal constituency, expressed confidence in Yusuf Buhari’s ability to provide effective and responsive representation.

He noted the importance of unity within the APC and urged party members and stakeholders to support credible and competent aspirants who can consolidate the achievements of the party.
Fatihu Muhammad, director-general of the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC), highlighted Yusuf’s background, leadership exposure, and readiness to serve.
He said that the decision to contest is driven by a vision to empower youths, strengthen grassroots development, and improve the overall welfare of constituents.
On her part, Hannatu Musa Musawa, minister of arts, culture, and creative economy, commended Yusuf for his willingness to serve the people.
The minister stressed the importance of youth participation in governance, describing the aspiration as timely and a new wave of leadership that would concentrate on innovation, inclusion, and national development.
She called for continued engagement with constituents and adherence to democratic values.
Responding, the governor applauded Yusuf for his interest in serving his community.
Radda highlighted the commitment of his administration to internal democracy, fairness, and unity within the APC.
The governor urged the aspirant to consult and maintain party unity as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.
Radda urged Buhari to remain steadfast, consult, and maintain integrity throughout the political process.
He further called on party stakeholders to prioritise peace, cohesion, and collective progress ahead of the 2027 general election.
